Greetings Prairie-Hills 144 Family
Welcome Back! Welcome Back! Welcome Back! It is my honor and privilege to serve as School District 144 Supervisor of Mathematics. As I begin my eighth year in the district and my first year as Supervisor, I am increasingly excited to build a love for mathematics across the district. I believe our students can and will achieve at and above Illinois and National math goals and standards. Providing the BEST, superior, instructional, operational, environmental, social, emotional, and overall experience possible will always be the standard and mission here at 144!
My charge and wildly important goal in our mission is as follows. To increase the participation in District 144 Parent Math Academy. Ensure our teachers are receiving support to continue to improve math instruction. And to get into every classroom in the district and have at least one positive interaction with every student.
Along with making math relevant, fun, and engaging for every student, we will continue to focus on the Eight Math Principles throughout the district. They are:
1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
2. Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
3. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
4. Model with mathematics.
5. Use appropriate tools strategically.
6. Attend to precision.
7. Look for and make use of structure.
8. Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
I look forward to seeing our students return to our classrooms. I strongly believe that we can continue to move in a positive direction and make life long positive impacts on the lives of our children.
