Greetings Mae Jemison Families and Community,
"It's a great day to be in the Hills"
I am Lolita Jennings, and serving as your Principal is an honor and pleasure. I began my career in the classrooms of Prairie-Hills Schools District 144, with a mission to always be prepared, available, and dedicated to student success! My lifelong passion for education, students and community is much like that of Mae Jemison’s mission; “to ensure that our students are responsible, resilient, ambitious, and confident learners - academically, emotionally, and socially - through the unified efforts of students, staff, families, and the community.”
I graduated from Central State University’s College of Education. I also earned my Master’s in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.
I am beginning my 30th year here at PHESD 144 and I have served in many roles. Previously serving more than a decade, as a teacher at Mae Jemison School, 10 years as a teacher at Chateaux Elementary, 4 years as Dean of Students at Prairie Hills Junior High, and last year 23/24 as your Assistant Principal/Lead Administrator of Mae Jemison Elementary School.
Throughout my career, I have remained committed to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. My primary goal is to partner with all stakeholders and support our students in every area of development to achieve excellence in a safe, secure, and healthy environment for them to reach their full potential.
I am committed to building a strong partnership between the school, parents, families, and the community. You are vital contributors and I welcome your participation, collaboration, and support. I look forward to working with you to ensure all our students succeed.
Aside from my professional commitments, I find joy and fulfillment in my personal life with my loving family. My role in education is complemented by the support and love I receive from my husband, 3 daughters (all graduates of Prairie Hills), and 2 grandsons. They inspire me to excel in my work and serve as a reminder of the importance of nurturing strong relationships both inside and outside the school community.
Please feel free to contact me via email at ljennings@phsd144.net or by phone at (708) 225 – 3636 if you have questions, concerns, or suggestions.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lolita Jennings, Principal
