News and Announcements

Principal's Corner

  • Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back!! I am so excited to start yet another school year at Markham Park School. It is my hope that you all enjoyed your summer break and that you took time to laugh, play, and rest from the previous year. We will begin this school year on August 21, 2019. We are all looking forward to seeing all returning students and meeting new students that may be entering the district this year.

Markham Park School will continue to be a place that educates the whole child. We are committed to partnering with the community of Markham to ensure that all students reach their highest potential. We are also excited to create new relationships with our new community members and serve as a resource to all who seek support.

Markham Park Elementary School will continue the RTI (Response To Intervention) block every morning from 8:55-9:25 so it is imperative that you ensure the prompt arrival of your student/s daily. This year we will also implement a Math Intervention Block from 12:35-1:05. During the morning literacy block and afternoon math block, two hours will be devoted to whole class instruction, and one-to-one conferences. (It is at this time that we ask our parents/community to minimize incoming calls.) These are some of the many strategies used to insure student progress. As a result of on-going staff development, the staff will provide an in-depth reading and writing program that will allow the students to continue to make accomplishments in their problem solving abilities and increase cognitive development.

Students should not arrive prior to 8:15 am as there is no supervision for them. We look forward to seeing all of our students and working with the parents to ensure a productive school year as   we continue to be diligent in maintaining the lines of communication and working in partnership with the Markham Park parents and community.

Last but certainly not least we look forward to seeing all of our parents at “Meet The Teacher Night” September 6, 2019 at 7:00pm.

    Sincerely,

    Tiffany Rucker,  Principal
