• MUSTANG CROSS COUNTRY

Cross Country is a sport for those students who enjoy long distance running on trails or road courses.  Girls and boys in grade levels 5th thru 8th may participate on the team.  Students race over a one- or two-mile course depending on their grade level.  The season begins the first week in August with practices.  Meets begin the third week of August with the season ending mid-October.  There is virtually no limit to the number of students who want to participate in cross country.  There are no try outs!  Students will compete in meets, invitationals during the regular season.  The top runners will be selected to compete in the IESA regional meet at the end of the season.  It is possible that some of those runners will advance to the IESA sectional meet and the IESA state meet.  Practices will take place daily after school Mondays through Thursdays.  Meets are typically on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, with some events held on Saturdays.  Our home meets are held at Prairie Hills junior High School located in Markham, Illinois.   Cross country participants must pay $10.00 activity fee, have a current physical prior to participation, and have the proper footwear.
