Governor Amendatory Vetoes SB 1 – We Need Your Help!

Governor Bruce Rauner has issued an amendatory veto of Senate Bill 1, the education funding reform bill, that was over two decades in the making. The measure now heads to the Illinois General Assembly where it will require a supermajority vote in BOTH Chambers (71 House and 36 Senate) to override the veto.

We have urged many of you to remain vigilant and it is now time to use the POWER of your VOICE! The Governor has strongly discouraged an override of his amendatory veto and legislators need all the help they can get. SB 1 is NOT a Chicago Bailout! REPUBLICAN Legislators need to HEAR from you. Democrats cannot override SB 1 by themselves. They must receive support from their colleagues across the aisle. Contact the following legislators and tell them to OVERRIDE the amendatory veto of SB 1.

The House currently has 67 Democrats and 51 Republicans.   In order to save SB 1, the House must get to 71 affirmative votes. Contact each of these six Republican legislators today!
