Mr. Jakubczak is a phenomenal teacher. With a great sense of humor and a positive attitude Mr. Jakubczak teaches the children in his class how to be successful each and every day. He always gives great advice and encourages his students to do their very best. Students from the past have been known to write Mr. Jakubczak years later and tell him how he made a difference in their lives and give him updates on their success. “Mr. J” as the students and staff affectionately call him is always the life of the party, planning great events for the staff to attend not to mention he knows how to keep the kids happy, laughing and having fun when we have spirit day! Mr. Jakubczak is a valuable member of the Chateaux team! Kudos Mr. J, we salute you!

Mrs. Lockhart has been involved education for over 15 years. Mrs. Lockhart has a Masters Degree in Human Resources, but her desire has been to work with children. She is currently working in PreK and really enjoys it. Mrs. Lockhart has worked as a paraprofessional for Prairie Hills School District for 3 years. She enjoys working with PreK because she loves to see the growth and development of the children during the school year. Mrs. Lockhart is confident that every child can learn no matter what. It takes an awesome team to educate children and she believes that team is us, educators!

Ms. Mitchell, reading coach, works diligently to help all students succeed at Highlands Elementary School. She supports her colleagues, and she is willing to assist whenever she is needed. Ms. Mitchell can always be found helping at the evening family events at our school. Ms. Mitchell is an integral member of our team, and her professionalism and rapport with staff, students, and parents help to make Highlands a wonderful place to be!

Mrs. Phillips is our October teacher of the month. Ms. Phillips made the move to third grade this year and is doing a tremendous job. One thing she loves about teaching is having the opportunity to work with all different kinds of learners. Away from school she enjoys walking and is currently taking salsa lessons.

Ms. Hrascinski has worked in District 144 for 13 years. She is a dedicated 2nd Grade Teacher. She oversees Student Council, Hispanic Heritage Night, and many other building activities. She sits on the School Leadership team and has mentored other teachers for many years.

Team Player of the YEAR goes to….Ms. Koch! Not only has she rendered years of service to our District 144 as a teacher, she’s been committed to our Primary team as a team leader consistently as well. Ms. Koch showed the BEST example this year, and decided to assist with our Kindergarten students…and she’s doing an AWESOME JOB! Ms. Koch is in love with teaching our children, especially our younger students. As our team leader for our Primary staff, she continues to keep everyone informed and on task. Ms. Koch is also our school’s representative for No Child Left Behind and our school’s 21st Century representative. As a union representative for our building, she continues to communicate with administration and her colleagues, to ensure we always value our children first. Ms. Koch arrives to work early and every week she communicates with parents through her Kindergarten! Thank you Ms. Koch for all you DO! We appreciate your commitment to our students and District! Congratulations!

Mrs. Bennett is one of Prairie-Hills Junior High Special Programs Department Chairs. She also serves as a co-teacher in ELA and Math. This is Mrs. Bennett’s 12th year as a Mustang and 30th year in education. She started as a Speech Therapist before going back to school to receive her Masters degree from Governors State University. Mrs. Bennett works diligently building positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents. Mrs. Bennett has been married for over 30 years and has three college graduates daughters, and one grandchild. She serves as a Girl Scout Leader and is the Service Unit Manager for 10 troops in Richton Park and Matteson. She also enjoys reading and traveling. Her favorite vacation destination is Hawaii. Mrs. Bennett is an asset to the PHJH entire community and is very deserving to be selected as teacher of the month for October 2018.
