Welcome to Second Grade!
Dear Families,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year in room 103. My name is Ms. Hartzol and I am excited to welcome you to an awesome year in Second Grade. A little bit about me family is very important to me. I have a five-year-old son and a loving fiancé. I love writing, frozen/iced coffee, and shopping. This is my fifth-year teaching, and I am pleased to share this year with you.
This is such an important year for you and I am looking forward to working with you and your family as we build a relationship that will support your child’s growth and education. I will teach each student all the tools needed to be successful in second grade. My promise to all students is to create a safe, caring, and exciting environment. During this school year you can expect your child to do a lot of learning, exploring, and creating their best self.
Room 103 expectations:
Attendance and scholarly behavior are crucial to the learning process, it is important that your child attends school daily and arrive on time, students are expected to come in uniform, and ready to learn. Students are expected to treat each adult and child in the building with kindness and respect. Students are expected to pay attention during class time, ask questions when needed, and follow directions the first time given.
Consequences for repeated non-scholarly behavior
1st Warning/Conversation with teacher
2nd Time out of recces or fun activity
3rd Parent contact
4th Meeting with principal
Grades:
Students should be allotted 30 minutes each evening for homework time. Students will receive homework Monday-Thursday and is expected to be completed and returned the next day. NO HOMEWORK ON FRIDAY! If your student is absent, on their returning day they will collect missing assignments from their mailbox and they have the number of absent days to complete the assignments.
