Dear Parents and Guardians
Parents, we have missed having ALL of our children in our gyms, lunchrooms, hallways, and classrooms. We are so excited to engage ALL of our students for a different, yet fabulous school year. We have soo many exciting and fun activities planned to encourage, motivate and stimulate our students. We plan to ensure that in the midst of their learning we take frequent mental wellness breaks. Most importantly, we are committed to ensuring that ALL of our students and staff remain safe and secure. We realize that we are still amid a pandemic so we are conducting the following to ensure that our students remain safe:
1.) Temperatures checked daily
2.) Masks worn all day**mask breaks will be provided throughout the day for students**
3.) Weekly COVID testing beginning Monday, September 27, 2021
4.) Maintaining 3 feet of distance throughout the school day
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 25, 2021. All students are expected to return to FULL in-person learning. Any parents who are uncomfortable sending their children back to school in person must provide a written letter to the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kimako Patterson, for approval or disapproval from the Board of Education.
The school hours for the 2021-2022 school year are as follows, all students are allowed to enter at 8:20 a.m. for breakfast. Instruction will begin promptly at 8:45 a.m. The instructional day concludes at 3:00 p.m. Your children must be present every day for learning by 8:45 a.m.
Parents will not be allowed to enter the building unless they are at the school to watch their child receive the Covid 19 test. Teachers will be assigned to various locations around the perimeter to assist parents. Staff will wear a badge with their name and grade level to help identify themselves. Please label and place school supplies on the tables outside. Once students have entered the building, the staff will deliver the supplies to the classrooms.
Last, I am asking for the help of the parents to stress the importance of not sharing food. Students that choose to bring bag lunch must bring in individual-sized chips only! Last, no cooked food that isn’t prepackaged will be served to students. Only store packaged goods will be served
We understand that these procedures will take time to become accustomed to, but we are confident that you will support our every effort to keep all of our students safe.
Parents, please join us in making sure that as we reimagine education, we make the 2021-2022 school year a PHENOMENAL year for our students. Won’t you join Prairie-Hills as The pursuit of EXCELLENCE continues….
