Response to Intervention (RTI)
-
Response to Intervention (RTI) is a district wide intitiative that provides additional reading and math instructional support for struggling learners. Providing instructional intervention allows for students to receive support in areas they are deficient. This tiered approach allows for struggling students to receive additional support in the area of reading and math.
There are many ways to determine if a students should receive RTI support. We use NWEA-MAP data/scores to determined if a student receives additional support. We also consider teacher and parent recommendation.
RTI is a three-tiered model.
Tier I is whole class instruction that all students receive.
Tier II is a 30-minute small group intervention support for students identified as struggling in reading.
Tier III is a 45-minute one-on-one intervention with the reading coach is targeted for students to receive intensive reading support.
