Mrs. Amaris Winters

Greetings Mae Jemison Family!

  • Welcome back to the 2022-2023 school year! My name is Amaris Winters and I have the privilege of returning as Assistant Principal at Mae Jemison Elementary School.  This is my second year serving the families of Prairie-Hills School District 144.

As an educator, I strive to make a difference in the lives of the students that I encounter daily.  I strongly believe that ALL students can learn if given the right support, love, and instruction.  My goals are to help develop self-esteem in students, nurture creativity, and recognize and celebrate the differences that make each of our students EXCEPTIONAL!

Last year we fully returned from the Pandemic. Although we were ready, as the year progressed we learned that there were areas that still desperately needed our attention.  This year, I come to you even more ready to dive into the social, emotional, and academic needs of our students.

I am THRILLED to assist our NEW Principal, Mr. Terrence Lee Sr. in cultivating a safe, secure, and healthy environment with the goal of all students reaching their full potential! I will work diligently to support our students by helping them recognize the importance of understanding that mistakes are a vital part of learning, embrace challenges, and develop the belief that effort is the road to mastery.

Let us work together as we return ready and excited for the new school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 708.225.4403 or by email at awinters@phsd144.net

The 2022-2023 school year will be AMAZING! GO ROCKETS!!!
