Greetings,

August 16, 2021,

Greetings Nob Hill Parents, Guardians and Community,

I hope this letter finds everyone safe and well after the unusual year that we experienced.  My name is Mr. Timothy Hurd and I will be the Principal of Nob Hill for the 21-22 school year.  I am excited about the opportunity and look forward to meeting each and every one of our students, families and community members.

I have worked in the district for 18 years, beginning as a PE teacher, then a Dean at PHJH, on to Mae Jemison as the Assistant Principal and finally to Nob Hill as the building Principal.  My primary focus as the Principal is the overall safety, health and growth of our students while ensuring they receive consistent and rigorous academic instruction. We know the disruption of this past year had a tremendous impact on our children and we plan on doing daily check ins with everyone to address any fears, concerns or worries they might have upon their return to in-person learning.

The staff and I are so excited to have all our students back in the building, we missed them tremendously and have many new and exciting things planned for the school year! We are committed to ensuring your child(ren) is in a safe, healthy and positive environment every day and the following procedures are in place for the upcoming year.

All students will have their temperatures checked daily by staff and be required to wear a mask when entering the school building, throughout the school day, and when riding the school bus. All K-5 students will be given a COVID test on their first day of attendance, Wednesday August 25,2021. Our building will open at 8:15 a.m. on that day for any parent/guardian that would like to bring their child in early for testing. Parents/guardians can stay with their child/children during testing. All visitors to our building will have their temperature checked and must wear a mask. The first day of school for pre-kindergarten students will be Tuesday, September 7, 2021. Pre-kindergarten students will report no earlier than the regular start time (8:20 a.m.) on their first day. Beginning Monday, September 27, 2021, all students will be tested weekly.  It is imperative that all students are in attendance on our designated testing day (Mondays) to ensure that their learning remains uninterrupted.  Students who are absent on our scheduled testing day will still be required to test upon their return.

School supply lists for all grade levels are located on our district website at  https://www.phsd144.net/, click on the student services tab, and then click on the registration tab. All Prairie-Hills School District #144 students wear uniforms. Pre-kindergarten through 5th grade students wear navy blue bottoms with a choice of navy or white shirts (with collars).

I am looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children reach their highest potential, we recognize that in order to achieve this there needs to be support from both home and school and that a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child (s) education. As partners we share in the success and struggles of our children and the staff of Nob Hill will do our best in carrying out our responsibilities.

I thank you in advance for taking the time to read this letter. Stay safe and we look forward to meeting you and your child(ren) on August 25!

Respectfully, Timothy Hurd
