Interim Superintendent 

Dr. Taquia Hylton

 

Dr. Hylton began her career in education at age 18 as one of only sixty Illinois high school seniors selected as a Golden Apple Scholar. Through the Golden Apple Foundation, an organization dedicated to developing teaching excellence in high-need schools. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University, with endorsements in Middle School, Mathematics, Language Arts, and Social Sciences.

She went on to earn a Master’s Degree and Principal Certification from Governor’s State University, followed by an Educational Specialist Degree with Superintendent Endorsement and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Northern Illinois University. Dr. Hylton is currently completing her Chief School Business Official (CSBO) endorsement at Illinois State University, with anticipated completion in May 2026.

Dr. Hylton has served as the Director of School Improvement in Prairie Hills School District 144 since 2024. Previously, she held leadership roles as a Principal in Chicago Public Schools and South Suburban districts, where she developed a strong reputation for using data to drive instructional improvement and organizational growth. Her career spans roles as a Principal, Assistant Principal, Dean of Students, Instructional Coach, Classroom Teacher, and Professional Development Provider for the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA).

A visionary education leader with more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Hylton has led district-wide initiatives focused on instructional excellence, operational effectiveness, equity, and continuous improvement. She brings a proven record in strategic planning, fiscal oversight, compliance, and stakeholder engagement, and remains deeply committed to advancing student achievement through strong systems, collaborative partnerships, and data-informed leadership.
