Understanding Type 1 Diabetes

Supporting Students with Type 1 Diabetes

At our school, we care about every student’s health and well‑being. Some children in our community have Type 1 diabetes, a condition where their bodies need help keeping blood sugar levels safe.

Students with Type 1 diabetes can do all the things other kids do — learn, play, and have fun — they just may need to check their blood sugar, take insulin, or have a snack at certain times to stay healthy.

Here’s how we help:

  • Our staff works with families to support each child’s health needs.
  • We make sure students have a safe place to check blood sugar or take medicine.
  • We encourage classmates to be kind, understanding, and supportive.

If your child has Type 1 diabetes or you have questions, our school nurse and staff are always here to help. Working together, we can make sure every student feels included, safe, and cared for.
