Welcome back to the 2018 - 2019 school year.
My name is Mrs. Barry and I look forward to a great year here at Mae Jemison School. Physical education classes meet for thirty minutes twice a week. In the event that a student’s participation is limited or restricted due to a medical condition, he/she will be excused from physical education with a parent note or phone call. A doctor’s note will be needed for non-participation for an extended period of time.
For the safety of your child, it is important he/she have an athletic shoe to wear for physical education class. If a student does not have the proper footwear, he/she will not be allowed to participate in class activities, this in turn could affect his/her physical education grade.
Our physical education classes will follow the district curriculum and align with the Illinois state standards for physical development and health. We will experience a wide variety of activities including movement skills, physical fitness, team-building, sport activities, the human body and health prevention. Students will bring home activity sheets as homework from time to time. Participation and effort; skill testing and performance assessments; homework and written work will all be calculated towards your child’s physical education grade.
My physical education expectations follow with our PBIS program of be respectful, be responsible and be safe.Feel free to contact me at school if you have any questions or concerns at email@example.com
