Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year

Welcome Back! I am incredibly excited to begin my 2nd year as the 8th grade Assistant Principal here at PHJH! Mustang Pride! I am eager to meet and work with each of you. I am also looking forward to an amazing year of growth and achievement at Prairie Hills Jr. High.

“The middle school years are important and critical times for students. What happens during these years will have a lasting impression on their growth and development.”

In my last year’s welcome back letter, I shared with you the importance of middle school. This year I would like to share with you a brief story about my middle school experience. Middle School holds a special place in my heart and it was there an 8th grade teacher made the biggest impact in my life. I was an average student during that time, but Mr. McNeal encouraged me and shared a vision that would propel me to where I am today. He gave me a voice and the confidence to go out in the world and make my mark. Who knew giving an 8th grade student an opportunity to recite the poem “Hey Black Child” at the 8th grade graduation would change his life.

I am resolute in my belief that we as educators in middle school can make a tremendous impact. I cannot wait to meet each and every one of you so that we can share and create a new story.

I look forward to supporting the students, staff, and community of Prairie Hills Jr. High. I believe in open communication and a strong home to school connection. Please feel free to contact me with any celebrations or concerns you may have. It is exciting to think about all that we will achieve working together. Let’s make this year great!

    Michael Wilson,

    8th grade Assistant Principal
