My name is Kimberly Gilbertsen and I am one of the Kindergarten teachers at Mae Jemison. I cannot express enough how excited I am to begin another school year with brand new kiddos! This is my second year teaching and looking forward to buillding new relationships. I graduated from Northern Michigan University (Go Wildcats!) with my Bachelors in Elementary Education and minors in Integrated Science and Language Arts. I went off to student teach in a 2nd grade classroom in Channahon School District. My passion for teaching has always been a huge part of me and I feel so blessed to begin my teaching journey in Kindergarten in PHSD144. Previously, I have worked at two childcare centers working with all ages infant through school age. I am ready to take all my experience and knowledge with me into my own classroom here at Mae Jemison.
I truly believe in all of my students succeeding. Each student has a different learning style. I will get to know every student in my classroom, from his/her strengths, weaknesses, interests, fears, and do everything in my power to reach that child's potential. I also believe in the power of parent involvement and the impact it has on their child's education. If we work together as a team, progress and achievement will happen! Let's do this!
I have a little Cairn Terrier that I am obsessed with.
I love to travel any opportunity I have.
I am a HUGE coffee addict (over ice!)
I love the Chicago Cubs, only if you sit in the bleachers!
Ice cream is my go-to dessert.
HGTV is my weekend morning channel.
I love to adventure the outdoors.
LOVE Italian food. My grandpa is 100% Italian and makes his own sauce that the family all comes together for.
Lastly, I love children and their curiosity for life, knowing that I can make a difference in their lives.
