My name is Kimberly Beamon and I am one of the literacy coaches here at Mae Jemison Elementary School.  As one of the literacy coaches here at Mae Jemison, I provide reading intervention to struggling readers, support for classroom teachers with literacy education as well as professional development to strengthen and enhance their craft. I also work closely with our principal, Mr. Terrence Lee, with various school-wide initiatives. I am very excited to be part of this amazing school.

This is my 8th year at Prairie Hills School District 144 and my 1st year here at Mae Jemison. Previously, I taught fifth grade and have taught at different grade levels, including third and fourth grades. I have been married for 22 years, have two daughters and four grandchildren and have always taken an active role in my own children’s education.  I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia College and I have a Masters of Education degree from University of Phoenix, where I also completed a teacher certification program for elementary grades K-9. Additionally, I attended Lewis University in Romeoville, IL. to obtain a Reading Specialist endorsement.
