BA Music Education with a Major in Voice and a Minor in Woodwinds. Master's Degree Type 76 Reading Specialist
My name is Ms. McClard and I am entering my 12th year as the Music Teacher and choir director at Mae Jemison School. I have been a teacher of students from the elementary grades, through Jr. High and High School. I have also been employed as the director of alternative high schools. My undergraduate work was completed at Western Illinois University where I received a B.A in Music Education with a major in voice and a minor in woodwinds. I completed a Master’s Degree as a Reading Specialist from Concordia University. I am an advocate and firm believer that literacy should be incorporated into all classes and content areas. I have two grown daughters and two grandchildren. Music is my passion but I am also a big fan of all sports. I especially love ice hockey and boating. Other things I enjoy are suspense movies and of course reading.
I respect and enjoy all types of music but a big fan of Pop, Soul, Classic Rock, Musicals and Southern Rock Music. Through exposure and education, the students will become better able to discover their musical passions, likes and dislikes. One of the beauties of music is that there is something for everyone!
