We believe that all children are exceptional and special. Every child has his or her own unique gift that makes them extraordinary.
Belief Statements
All students can learn and need positive opportunities for continued growth. All students are the responsibility of everyone. When treated with respect and fairness, all students have the potential to increase their capabilities. Every student has value and deserves the opportunity to learn.
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) provides for a free appropriate public education for all individuals with disabilities between the ages of 3 and 21. In order to be responsive to the diverse educational needs of all its students, the Special Education Department of District 144 provides a continuum of services to be considered in determining the appropriate educational program for each student. These services are determined by the level of need of the student.
