8th Grade Laptop Initiative

Prairie-Hills Elementary School District 144 has established the 8th Grade Laptop Initiative for 2010-11.  The parents of 8th grade students were given the opportunity to allow their child to borrow a laptop system from the school district until the end of the school year.  In an effort to prepare students for 21st Century skills, these student laptops will be used to access programs, research information, and complete homework.

This is the pilot year of the program and we are excited about having the chance to work with our students from the Prairie-Hills Junior High.  All of the laptop systems have been configured for home use with necessary software as well as the ability to connect to wireless networks.  This is an example of the district looking for ways to integrate technology and prepare students for the global workplace.
