Markham Park Staff is happy to start another wonderful school year.  Starting a new year gives us the opportunity to make new plans, design new strategies, and implement new ideas. We will continue to concentrate on the processes that promote student growth while providing students with a sequential, well defined District adopted curriculum which will challenge them.

We have great news about our performance on the ISAT Test.  We did not make AYP, but we made gains in reading and math!  Our academic performance could not have been as great without the joint efforts of our parents, students, teachers, and community members. Our goals this school year are 90% in reading and 90% in math.  Please visit the district website regularly for important resources which will assist us as we attain these goals.

We have a phenomenal staff, and are fortunate to have new members join our team this year. Ms. Aleasa Green and Katy Dammer will join Mrs. Pressman in fourth grade and Megan Worker, Jaime Setterstrom and Arnell Thompson will be our new sixth grade team. Please join us as we welcome them to our family.

We are requesting that each student arrives to school no later than 8:30am! The RtI Intervention/Core Block begins at 8:55-9:25(this block provides students with additional strategies and support for continued success).  The reading block starts immediately afterwards from 9:30-11:30.  It is important for our students to get every minute of education; they deserve only the best! This year we will continue implementing the RtI/Core Intervention Block.  The entire school will be providing an additional 30 minutes of intense reading instruction. Please try to avoid late arrivals as this would disrupt our students’ opportunity to increase their reading ability and to develop an enjoyment of reading.

We will continue PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports).  Students will be introduced to the expectations and trained in specific setting within the school, bus and walk home. We want to approach behavior in a positive and proactive manner..
